“AFRICAN RHYTHMS” - New Year's Eve 2009 directly in the centre of all happenings!
Come to us to enjoy unique atmosphere of a New Year’s Eve evening in the very heart of Prague. The main theme of the night is the “AFRICAN RHYTHMS”. The interior of Adria Hotel Prague will be thematically decorated. Also some of the gastronomy will be inspired by the African theme (see the gastronomic offers). The staff and involved performers will be dressed in topical costumes or will be accessorized “the African style”... At the area of the reception will be a disco with the rhythm of African tones accompanied by a dance performance. The evening programme will include for example performance of African drummers, presentation of original costumes from Gambia and Senegal, live music and dances of West Africa, DJ from Senegal, disco for all guests At the end of the night each guest will get a pleasant memory of the New Year’s Eve 2009.

Christmas is approaching and everyone in TRITON Restaurant is very busy with preparation of an unforgettable Christmas meal. Christmas Eve is one of the most beautiful evenings of the year. Festive dinner, candlelight, smell of baking, magical atmosphere… All of this preceded by a lot of preparations. And even before the preparations making the very important decision about what menu to prepare for our guests this year – to stay with the traditional carp and potato salad or to try something new and different? To put together a festive menu, to blend different tastes and to please everyone is not an easy task, but even this year our head chef has done a tremendous job. Traditional Christmas tree decorated by Adria’s guests
Every year there is a traditional Christmas tree at the reception of Adria Hotel Prague. However, not even this year the tree will be decorated by a professional decorator. It has already become a nice yearly tradition that our guests help us to create the right Christmas atmosphere by helping to decorate the tree. Each guest hangs on the tree their Christmas wish written on a paper decoration. Each card is unique, some even works of art. On top of it we draw every day one room number whose residents can enjoy a real Christmas punch in the hotel bar. Our Christmas tree is already quite full of many beautiful wishes and there is still couple of weeks to Christmas.

Adria support's Kim in the project "Ride Planet Earth"
On Saturday the 7th of November we welcomed to Adria Hotel Prague Kim Nguyen, a cyclist bringing a powerful message. Kim set off on his bike from Australian Brisbane in August last year. He is heading thorough whole Asia and Europe to December’s world summit in Danish Copenhagen, where countries will meet and decide about actions against climatic change. “Let’s start with ourselves”, recommends Kim and he says, “Automobiles are one of the main source of carbon dioxide. If we want to save and sustain current living conditions on the planet, we have to change our behavior patterns. The mode of transport of the future is a bicycle.”
Karel Doubek, Adria Hotel Prague’s director says, “Adria Hotel Prague has been trying for seventeen years with its many activities and the way of thinking to follow similar thought “if we want to make a change we need to first start with ourselves”. Two years ago we have given this longstanding philosophy a common denomination and became first four star hotel in Prague that obtained the EU Ecolabel “The Flower”. It was therefore very natural for us to provide Kim with a maximum support. We offered him free accommodation together with meeting room, where he could organize his press conference to pass further the message about the extraordinary journey.”
And in order for Kim to refuel on vitamins for his trip and for not getting lost in the vast world, he got from Adria Hotel Prague symbolic present in form of a globe carved out of watermelon…
Adria Hotel Prague lends a helping hand once again!

Adria Hotel Prague lends a helping hand once again when participating in the transformation of Prague’s city centre into a healthier and cleaner place. The hotel’s employees and their invited business partners set off on the 8th October 2009 - for the second time already - with paint brushes, paints and grinders, to neighboring Franciscan garden to help repair and paint as many benches as possible and give them back their glory after the summer season...

Adria's cycle ride
The European Mobility Week organized by the European commission took place all around Europe between the 16th and 22nd September. It culminated in the European Day without Cars on the 22nd of September. Part of the campaign were bike rides throughout the Czech Republic promoting principles of safe and healthy cities for pedestrians and cyclists. Adria Hotel Prague decided to get actively involved by organizing different activities for its guests whose main aim was to give this campaign the maximum support. Guests, for example, were given a specially prepared jogging map inviting them with the slogan “See beauties of Prague from a different perspective: TAKE AN AIRING”. Everyone who conquered the jogging route earned – aside from a great feeling – also a little present from us. Similarly, those who brought a confirmation between 16. 9 – 22. 9 of an actively supporting the Week of Mobility in form of e.g. earmarked city transport ticket, bike rental receipt or others, obtained a reward also...

To find out how You – our guest – will feel while running, We – the employees of Adria Hotel Prague – tested the jogging route first hand; to be exact we tested it with our own feet… After a morning stretch in the picturesque Franciscan garden , under the strict supervision of our head chef, we started our run towards Strelecky Island, where we took a minute to catch our breath. Returning we were all running like the wind, motivated by the thought of a delicious substantial breakfast waiting for us back at the hotel as our well deserved reward. The morning exercise was a great energizer and it put us all in a joyful mood, therefore we are already planning our next group run…

Hotel Adria Prague has decided to give its support to the protected workshop BONA by selling their handmade products and by doing so help to integrate mentally, physically and in another way handicapped individuals back into the society. Anyone can help by purchasing any of the products which are displayed at the hotel reception – even you! Glass pictures, jewellery, stained glass ornaments and other objects which you will find at our reception have all been handmade by handicapped people in the protected workshop. Hotel Adria Prague gives all the proceeds back to the workshop to support its operation and protected living, which was established to help those people and to improve their life.

Earth Hour in hotel ADRIA
Hotel ADRIA showed its support to the global project „Earth Hour 2009“ when it „immersed into darkness“ for one hour, on the 28th of March at exactly 20:30. The hotel either completely switched off or dimmed lights and other electrical appliances. Only electrical appliances essential for safe operation of the hotel stayed switched on. The project „Earth Hour“ was created to raise awareness of the negative actions of humans on the environment, and by doing so protect our Earth. The project „Earth Hour“ was brought to our attention by the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants (AHR) and we immediately thought it was a wonderful idea to, as a hotel with the prestigious EU Eco-label, join another project which could increase our care of the environment and nature itself.
Guests of our hotel were informed about the project in advance and were very much willing and happy to take part. As a matter of fact they took it as a very pleasant variation of their stay. Guests of the TRITON Restaurant, for example, dined only in the romantic light from restaurant’s aquarium and the hotel’s reception and other parts of it's grounds were immersed into darkness with a candlelight glow.
We are very happy that we could take part in this global activity and express our support to the organisers and mainly to the Earth itself.
The aftermath of spring’s open wine-cellars
The festival of open wine-cellars, which took place on the first spring weekend in a wine province called „Modré hory“ (The Blue Mountains) attracted wine lovers of Moravian wine from all parts of not only the Czech Republic, but abroad as well. The magical and inimitable atmosphere of the „Modré hory“ province was brightened not only with lovely sunshine, but above all with warm manners and smiles of the local winegrowers and citizens of the Kraví hora republic.
The climax of the festival was in the form of a fantastic gastronomic experience „combining food and wine“, which was organised by hotel Kraví hora and prepared by TRITON Restaurant.

Bird boxes in Franciscan Garden
The approach of spring is inherently characterized by the cheerful singing of birds as excited as us for the nicer weather to finally arrive. There are plenty of such impatient birds in Franciscan Garden adjacent to Adria hotel, which gave us an idea to help them by building presentable as well as comfortable homes. Well, this is what we do the best after all! If we can offer the same services to our guests why not build a few more luxurious apartments for the birds in Franciscan garden? We bought all that was needed, invited our business partners with families and started the grand design. Each participant was to paint the interior in a way that the birds would feel at home. Children’s fantasies are without limits so at the end of the afternoon we had bird boxes of all colors and styles – some were artistic abstract paintings the others had futuristic elements, but all were beautiful. According to experts from the Czech ornithological association our new luxury garden apartments will most likely get the attention of nuthatches and tits. We are very much looking forward to seeing their chicks being brought up in those new apartments, which will be the best reward for us. We wish our guests to feel as pleasant and comfortable in our hotel as the birds in their new homes...

Green BIO Package
Hotel Adria Prague offers a new original service; a green BIO package. The hotel, which became the first **** hotel in Prague in 2008 to be the holder of the prestigious eco label award, the EU “Flower,” now invites its guests to a three-day stay with an extravagant “green” programme.
Guests will be able to enjoy tasty meals prepared from fresh raw materials provided by local bio-farmers. Likewise, guests will be able to make their very own soap with therapeutic effects during their stay, which they can then take home with them. Guests will strengthen their health with a relaxation aroma bath, which they can have mixed according to their actual mood and state of mind. Each guest will obtain a “green” surprise and a trip is prepared for those who are interested in visiting an out-door museum in Tøebíze, not far from Prague. Apart from the out-door museum, guests can visit a traditional fruit spirits distillery and get a chance to try and make their very own bio-liquor with the help of an expert.

Earth Hour
Saturday 28th March 2009 at 8.30 p.m.
Do you already know what you will be doing at that hour? How about taking a seat in the ambience of candlelight and engaging in the Earth Hour project? Earth Hour is an initiative sponsored by WWF (World Wildlife Fund), whose task is to bring people’s attention to the negative affects of man on the environment. In 2007, an idea was borne in Australia to turn off all lights and appliances in households and companies. More than 2.2 million people took part in the first year.
Immediately the following year this initiative became a global event, which 50 million people participated in, in more than 35 countries in the world and monuments, such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Coliseum in Rome, or the Coca Cola sign above Time Square in London were all involved. Everything plunged into darkness for one hour. Participate with us! Turn off all of your electrical devices, which are not essential for life, for sixty minutes and help the environment…
Orthodox Easter at Triton
For some, a celebration of the arrival of spring, for others, the celebration of the crucifixion of Christ. For both occasions TRITON Restaurant has prepared a festive menu. The price of the menu includes a little attention for each guest in the form of a traditional paska. You can pick your paska up at our TRITON Restaurant starting from 18 April and have it consecrated at cathedral of St. Cyril and Methodius. The Orthodox service begins here on Saturday at exactly midnight. We will be pleased to arrange transport to the mass and from the cathedral directly to the restaurant. Celebrate St. Valentine's Day!
Saint Valentine, who is regarded as the patron of all those in love, was an Italian bishop living in the 3rd century. Legend says that he used to give out flowers to young couples and inspired soldiers to spend their time with their wives rather than in battle. Therefore, he was supposedly also executed by the emperor in 269. Only recently did the act of endowing a loved one with a gift become a tradition. In our part of the world, women receive a flower at the least, so why not treat yourself to a romantic stay in a luxury hotel in the centre of Prague, or a romantic candlelight dinner in a unique restaurant? You can find both in our offer!
Celebration of an Orthodox Christmas
Due to the great popularity among our guests in years gone by we have decided to organise a celebration of an Orthodox Christmas for them once again this year. According to Orthodox tradition it will take place on January 6th after the first night star appears. Before this, guests will be able to visit the Orthodox mass in the Church of St. Nicolas, for which we will arrange transportation. After their return, they will be welcomed by tables overflowing with a 12 course menu. This year Chef Michal Novák has prepared a menu with small variations enabling the guests to see and mainly taste other possible adjustments of old recipes. The evening will include the decorating of the tree with ornaments made by the guests themselves and also the handing out of presents.
