New Year’s Eve Celebration in Adria Hotel
Similarly, as each year we have tried very hard to make the New Year’s Eve celebration worth while. This year the topic will be the Mafia in the 1920’s and 1930’s and we have prepared several surprises for you. The programme includes live performances, a gangster chase, a Mata Hari dance routine and disco for the “members of the family”. The whole evening will be accompanied with live music while excellent food and drink will await you in the form of a buffet in the Café Neptune or the New Year’s Eve Menu in our Triton Restaurant. Each guest will take home a pleasant memory of New Year’s Eve 2008. The Cocktail Party will start at the hotel reception at 7 p.m. and the celebrations will last until the morning. One Czech Christmas rhyme goes - Stephen, Stephen what are you carrying in your jug? I am carrying treats from carol-singing and I fell on the ice…. In the past, on December 26th - that is to say St. Stephen’s Day, there used to be a tradition of people going round houses in the villages, carrying a little nativity scene and carol singing. This is what the rhyme refers to, unfortunately the ending was not happy because dogs ate all the treats. Christmas Eve in Triton...
...will definitely be unforgettable. Preparations are fully under way, so we hope that Chef Michal Novák won’t be angry if we take a peep at his work. He is preparing a variation of the traditional Czech Christmas – after all we believe that the best tasting carp was prepared by our grandmothers. So he has supplemented the traditional Christmas menu with less usual delicacies, such as for example marinated tenderloin of pork with aniseed and strawberries served on rucola and chicory salad, courgette blossom filled with mushroom flan and truffle mousse or roast fallow deer medallion with duck liver and balsamic jelly, served on cranberry sediment. And undoubtedly there will be some desserts for those with a sweet tooth...

Christmas Competition for the Adria Hotel Guests
In the Adria Hotel we do not decorate our Christmas tree. Do you know why? Because it is decorated for us by our guests. The hotel started a jolly tradition of organising a Christmas competition for hotel guests. Each guest will hang on the tree his festive greeting – a paper decoration where he can write what he wishes for us. Some creations are small works of art. While hanging their decorations guests can read the festive messages of other guests and similarly as we do they can try to guess which country this or that guest comes from. They take pleasure in it as much as we do and the lucky ones who are drawn out will be able to enjoy some real Christmas punch in the hotel bar! Our Christmas tree is already quite full and there are still more than two weeks to go before Christmas...
Other Awards for the Adria Hotel
The Adria Prague Hotel has carved another notch on the imaginary belt of its success. Thanks to its responsible attitude towards the environment it can now boast the prestigious award of the 2008 Green Manager. The Association of Hotels and Restaurants of the Czech Republic gave this award to the Adria Hotel Director, Karel Doubek, for his exemplary attitude and results achieved in enforcing ecological principals in hotel management.

Presents from St. Nicolas
The Lobby Bar in the Adria Hotel was visited by St. Nicolas with the Devil. Children were pouring in, but there was a sweet for each of them. However, the Devil was uncompromising – first a rhyme or a song! Children tried their best, sometimes mum had to prompt them a bit, but no little performer left empty handed. It was very cold – fortunately frozen parents were able to warm up with mulled wine or a drop of something stronger. The strange thing is that the Devil did not dish out any coal, probably this year the children were really good … we will see next year.

For many years Hotel Adria has been striving to be environmentally friendly. Now we have given these efforts a common denomination and become first four-star hotel in Prague, holding the EU Ecolabel - the Flower.
What exactly does the Flower hide? This question answered Adéla Petrová from company CENIA, Czech information agency for environment: “The Flower represents responsible attitude not only to environment but also to employees and first and foremost to guests. Measures that the hotel must take concern entire business and contribute to saving of water, energy and materials. Simultaneously Adria Hotel shows that this attitude to environment can go hand in hand with top-class services. Adria Hotel Prague definitely deserves this prize and the entrance audit proved it. The overwhelming majority of our requirements are a commonplace and the “Flower” confirmed it.”

Indian Summer Menu
Indian summer is the last hint if warm days before autumn sets in. Perhaps for this reason it has a slightly bitter taste of something we like but know that will end soon. The leaves on trees are gradually changing colour into brilliant colours, the days are still warm, but are quickly getting shorter and shorter and fruits are being harvested, which are a natural part of our cuisine – autumn fruits, potatoes, nuts, mushrooms and chestnuts. These very ingredients are often a part of our daily menu because they taste best fresh. The same applies to our TRITON Restaurant. Benches in Franciscan Garden in new dress: 2.9.2008
Adria Hotel Prague adopted benches in the Franciscan Garden which is located right next to the hotel. The employees started to the neighbouring garden on 2nd September with paints, brushes and smoothers to paint as much benches as possible and return them their former glory.

Strawberry Menu in Triton Restaurant

Adria Hotel dealt with a traffic riddle
As every year the celebration of 96th anniversary of Hotel Adria foundation went off by the spirit of playfulness and competitiveness – this year in the name of traffic playground and motoring. In spite of slightly unfavourable weather no traffic collapse took place and many guests manager to get 12 points in traffic disciplines to their driver cards necessary for winning interesting „traffic“ prizes.
The Franciscan Garden prepared for its guests conscientiously and dressed colours of spring blooms. Also the tables heavy with gastronomy were chic. Wittily arranged delicacies were without any doubt prepared by the professional team of cooks and pastry-cooks fairly and squarely.

Hygienic inspection in Adria Hotel
The hotel Adria was On 10th March 2008 unexpectedly inspected by Hygienic Authority of the Capital of Prague and it proved true again that the hotel meets strict hygienic rules set by HACCP system. The General Manager Karel Doubek comments: "I want to say a word of thanks to all who contribute with their long-time work to the highest level of hygienic standard in the hotel Adria. The report of yesterday hygienic inspection confirmed it again."

Traditional Three King’s Day at Adria Hotel Prague: 15th January 2008
Adria Hotel played a match of the century. On 15 January the hotel Adria gave a friendly in ice-hockey on occasion of the Three King’s Day Party hold by hotel Adria every year.
The conference room changed by wave of a magic wand into ice hockey stadium with all the trimmings – an ice rink, a bench, rent of skates and an experienced goalkeeper defending his goal. The guests were taken by surprise and got a few goals from the home team at the beginning of the match but soon they scored some goals and turned the game. The players shot at the goal from all sides with a funny puck – fake chicken roast. The bravest guests did not hesitate to borrow roller-skates to be as quick as the home team. And to be frank the Adria team suffered a crushing defeat.
As bonus the victorious team dived to the free-style bar with really icy drinks. The best players were awarded with valuable prizes and all won traditionally excellent gastronomy prepared by the chef, Michal Novák.
Celebration of Orthodox Christmas at Hotel Adria: 6.1.2008
Hotel Adria and Triton Restaurant traditionally celebrated Christmas twice again – classic Christmas Eve on December 24th and Orthodox Christmas on January 6th. In celebration of Orthodox Christmas, Triton Restaurant prepared a surprise in the form of a twelve-course menu prepared according to a old recipes from Russian cuisine, trees decorated with various handmade ornaments and gifts for both adults and children alike.
